Katherine Harris teaches calculus and algebra at Beloit College. Beloit’s culture of student-centered classrooms excites her, as does the opportunity to collaborate with colleagues in other departments.

After graduating from Bucknell University as a math major, Katherine earned both masters and PhD degrees in mathematics from North Carolina State University.  There, her research involved creating hybrid symbolic-numeric algorithms to solve problems in real algebraic geometry. As a graduate student, she was also actively involved in the student chapter of the Society for Women in Mathematics. One outreach project focused on encouraging middle school girls to study math.

In her free time, Dr. Harris enjoys running, reading, cooking, doing Sudoku puzzles, and listening to true crime podcasts.
